The Latins, Greeks, and Etruscans battled for control of the Italian peninsula from around 1000 to 500 B.C. The Latins were considered to be the first Romans after they built a cluster of wooden huts atop seven hills, Palatine Hill.
One thing that I found interesting was that Rome and Greece are a lot different even though they are relatively close to eachother. Like Rome has fertile soil and holling hills but Greece has large mountains and is not suitable for farming.
